Virginia Pichler

Virginia is a UBC PhD candidate in the Av-Gay Lab. She received her MSc in 2014 from the University of York, and her BSc from the University of Toronto in 2011.

Virginia’s research is based in two locations. Here in the Av-Gay Lab, her research is on quantifying mycobacterial antibiotic resistance through correlation of drug MICs and gene mutations from whole-genome sequencing. At the BC Centre for Disease Control, she is investigating transmission dynamics of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and non-tuberculous mycobacteria with genomic epidemiology.
Her other interests are science communication, gardening, baking, travelling, dog/cat petting.
